Imagine a world without internet. There would be no emails, no Facebook, no eBay, amongst other things. Even a simple task as booking a flight or a hotel would have to be done over the phone. To think about it†¦ life as we know it would just not be the same. This new day and age has brought us to a point where it’s possible to find virtually anything on the internet, even love. Yes, online dating has become the new revolutionary way of finding your soul mate (Houran, Lange, 2004), and it is to no surprise since it’s easy, provides more options and is growing each and every day. Thus romantic relationships have benefited through use of the internet. The internet has made many things more convenient including online†¦show more content†¦Online romantic relationships adjust to the individuals schedule avoiding the typical conflicts that occur in offline romantic relationships. For example a night shift worker who gets home at 5:00a.m. is able to go onl ine and meet other users who are likewise online. Most people would still be asleep at this hour of the day. The internet provides individuals such as this night-shift worker to meet people at any time of the day on their own schedules, not around, making it optimally convenient. The night shift worker is only one example but there are many more individuals out there each with different needs in a romantic relationship. The internet provides these individuals in search of a romantic relationship with more options. Gays and lesbians are at a minority compared to the rest of the population putting homosexuals at a disadvantage when trying to find a romantic relationship. E-Harmony created an online dating site called compatible partners where the questions tend to be fairly similar to those of the straight online dating site (Contemporary Sexuality, 2009). This allows gays and lesbians to meet others of the same sexualities via online providing them with more options. Why our children should be vaccinated Vaccines are said to be one of the greatest public health achievements in history. They date back to 1796, when Edward Jenner used cowpox material to create immunity to the smallpox disease. (Historyofvaccines.org 2014) Now over two-hundred years later they’ve helped dramatically reduce the instance of viral diseases in children. For example, old childhood diseases such as Polio, Smallpox, and Diptheria have either been completely eradicated or are rarely seen in the United States thanks to vaccines. However, in recent years we’ve seen a sharp increase in parents who opt out of having their children receive these life-saving immunizations. This is mostly due to accusations over different†¦show more content†¦The actual accusation of the autism threat goes back to 1998, when a British physician by the name of Andrew Wakefield wrote an article for a medical journal called The Lancet. In his article, he detailed studies of the three series M.M.R vaccine and how being administered produced autism in children. This article caused mass hysteria and widespread panic amongst parents not only in Great Britian but here in the United States as well. This autism theory was debunked as later investigations into Wakefield’s research found his claims to be dishonest and fraudulent. â€Å"The archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, which reviewed a dozen epidemiological studies, concluded that there was no evidence of an association between autism and M.M.R, and studies in peer-reviewed journals since have come to the same conclusion.†(Dominus 2011) It was also revealed by investigators that funding for Wakefield’s studies came from lawyers looking to build a case against vaccine manufacturers. We have a saying that once upon a time a church was swallowed by the earth, and so a hole appeared, and the people call it the ghost church. And there is a rumor that on very quiet days one can hear a distant tolling of bells and chanting of hymns. Fyodor seems to me like such a sainted but unreal church. In his soul he is always frank to friend and foe. His heart is filled with love and kindliness. And it is as though bells tolled gently in his inmost self. But what is the use of all this kindliness and piety since the man has no strength?
